We’re creating new open space for the community to enjoy as part of the Glenferrie Oval precinct revitalisation.

About the consultation and what we heard

In March and April 2023, we asked our community to have their say on the draft landscape concept plan for the new open space. 180 people, of whom two-thirds live in Hawthorn, provided feedback by completing the consultation survey or joining a drop-in session. Overall, 65% supported the draft plan.

Based on the draft landscape concept plan, people told us they:

  • liked the grassy lawn for relaxing or watching the oval
  • liked the accessible pathway links through the new public open space
  • liked the plaza with informal seating
  • liked the bike parking but would like to see it moved to the new entrance area
  • would like to see as many trees as possible kept and native trees and plants included to complement the existing eucalyptus trees in the area
  • would like to see lighting for the precinct
  • would like to see a place for younger children to play.

Here's what some of our community members had to say:

Our final open space design
