The Camberwell Fresh Food Market has an exciting new look and feel, with new dining spaces for everyone to enjoy. From 29 October 2023, the market will open Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm, with selected traders operating.

The upgrades have increased the offering at the market, increased trading hours and will support the future of the market, while helping to preserve the iconic heritage.

About the project

Works to build indoor seating pods and additional outdoor seating were completed in December 2022, including:

• new, accessible indoor dining space with mobile-device charging pods
• new outdoor seating area with dining tables and benches near the northern entrance of the market building.

This project was supported by the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

We surveyed customers to find out what they loved most about the market and what improvements they would like to see.

We used the responses from the survey and research from our Boroondara Community Plan 2021–31 to help us design:

• a new accessible indoor dining space with mobile device charging pods
• wooden outdoor dining tables and benches near the northern entrance of the market building.
