Our Road Management Plan sets out how we will inspect, maintain and repair our local:

  • streets
  • pathways
  • kerbs and channels
  • other road assets.

We review the plan every 4 years. This important work makes sure our community can safely move around our suburbs on foot and in vehicles.

The plan includes the road assets we are responsible for maintaining. It doesn’t include main arterial roads or freeways. These are owned, managed and maintained by VicRoads (now the Department of Transport).

Review of the Road Management Plan and key changes

We have reviewed the current Road Management Plan 2017 and have developed a draft Road Management Plan 2021.

The draft plan includes some suggested improvements, including adding more standards to reflect the extra activities we need to do to make sure our roads are safe and well maintained.

Another suggested improvement is to provide more information around:

  • the assets we are responsible for
  • how often inspections happen
  • road management practices
  • response times.

This extra information will support our team to complete activities within the plan. It will also make things clearer for stakeholders.

We have put together a summary of the results from our review process and the suggested key changes. You can find this Review document, and the draft Road Management Plan 2021 in the Document library on this page.

We developed these suggested improvements and draft plan with help from our community. We listened to your concerns and feedback and we aim to find new opportunities to deliver better results.
